The Stash Collection is inspired by traditional hinged schoolhouse desks. It translates and modernizes the concept into a playful, novel apartment collection. Transform your home into a cozy, minimalist haven with the help of hidden storage, concealed under table tops and seats built with invisible hinges. Each piece is designed to be enjoyed and nurtured as a functional character in any urban household. The pieces are built with solid wood construction and integrated joinery to ensure a lifetime of active usage. The collection will use domestically sourced hardwoods and U.S. production to lower embodied energy.

My name is Sam Friedlander and I am an independent furniture designer and builder based out of Red Hook, Brooklyn. I seek to design pieces of furniture that are approachable, playful and well built. I try not to get caught up creating perfect designs, but ones whose quirks will bring joy to the users. One of the main priorities for my furniture is to be used and not collect dust in sterile spaces. My background in architecture has taught me to absorb inspiration across a variety of disciplines, histories, and vernaculars. Launchpad 2021 will be the first time showcasing select pieces from the Stash Collection in person. I am excited to meet patrons of the industry for the first time and hope to forge a U.S. based production partnership. People will be able to touch and see the Stash Desk, School House Blackboard, and School House Picture Frame at the Launchpad booth. I will also be showing off the rest of the collection via a graphics filled website. I look forward to meeting everyone in person after such a tough year.
