The name Srebrenica has become synonymous for the worst war crime in Europe since the Second World War: Genocide on more than 8.000 Muslim-Bosnians. The photobook "Srebrenica" documents places where exactly 25 years ago the crimes took place, shows the forensic work of the International Commission for Missing Persons in identifying the victims and pictures survivors who have not been able to return to their homeland until today or who - after their return - are struggleinmg with post-traumatic stress disorders and the denial of the genocide.
The aim of the project is to raise public awareness of the everyday reality in Bosnia and the complexity of reconciliation processes in post-conflict societies in general. Also, or especially, when international attention and with it press representatives and many aid organisations have long since left this place and the process of coming to terms with a violent past has begun.
