won’t cut it. Neither does tonight’s “signature white”—
what to suffer through with no instruction?
Or is the newly netted building next door
the truer touchstone, its masked facade I’ve passed
so many days before construction started
now standing tall: a designated mourner.
My worn-out music box begins to play.
Sometimes it winds itself, resists decay.
