Ostensibly referring to the Johnstown Castle Estate in County Wexford, Ireland, it is a comment on the ephemerality of Life. Everything, no matter how powerful and important, has to eventually make way for that which succeeds it.
This is my first proper video and is very much a learning process for me.
Filmed on location in Johnstown Castle estate which is now owned by Irish Heritage Trust.
Music is from Canticum Canticorum (Song of Solomon) performed by Ensemble Medievale.
It is a cycle of 29 motets by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and dates from about 1584, four hundred years after the establishment of a Norman stronghold in the area referred to.
