This video project came about when I was approached by the Limerick band Smlchxrch to create an abstract music video for their song 'Kill My Friends'.
We decided we would like to shoot in a location that tied in with the theme of the song and the overall image of the band and their music.
I remembered Ballinagarde House on the outskirts of Limerick. The house Built in 1774 by the Croker family has succumbed to disreplare in recent years. It was the perfect location to create an old style, authentic, horror like music video.

The band gave me full control over all the creative aspects of the video and editing which was a first for me. It was challenging but also very enjoyable to see my own vision come to life inspired by their song. I wanted to create an unsettling and almost horror-like atmosphere with the use of abnormal camera angles, distorted editing and the use of monochrome visuals.

The video includes all four members of the band, Sean Horgan on keyboard, Paddy Critchley on drums, Andrea Mocanu on lead vocals and guitar, and Killian Moran on bass.
The final still in the music video is a 35mm film photograph shot by sister Clara Mcsweeny. Clara, a fellow artist, shot photographs for the band on the same day as the video was shot.

I want to show this piece to make people aware of the collaboration between musicians and artists in Limerick city and the creative process behind creating abstract videos for songs.
