Trailer of Dark Vocalise (2019). Music theatre piece composed by Sara Zamboni for voice and 5-channels and fixed media. Premiered on April 2nd 2019 in the Arnold Schönbergzaal of The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague (NL). Dark Vocalise is a piece about the inner and deepest aspects of female voice. The fundamentals of this piece are some vocal warming up exercises standardized in singing practice. The piece reflects in a different way the main function of those repetitive patterns and progressive series of sounds. It explores the condition of the voice when it is not yet ready to perform but it is already rich of inner variations, instabilities and nuances. All sounds appearing in this piece have been recorded from the singer Elena Lorenzi, then manipulated by the composer Sara Zamboni and presented on a 5-channels fixed media. The live performance of the singer consists in another complementary vocal part. She becomes a character interacting with her own voice, surrounded by her own sound world and trying to free herself from it, taking control of her voice again.
