ReFrame Awards 2020 are here! Designed to attract video producers of all levels from all over Australia and across the globe. The Awards Committee are proud to introduce 5 new categories, each with two subcategories that an entry may be submitted into.

BEST EDITING
The greatest editors know that their number one goal is to ensure that every clip, every edit, and every transition is put in the timeline to serve the story. Editors are the storytellers, relying on technical skills and instinct to produce a visual masterpiece.

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY
Cinematography is more than the documentation of what is happening before you. It involves creating an original artwork through an enlightening and creative process. The best cinematographers will use a combination of photography and other mediums; image manipulation, organisation, management and so forth, to achieve the desired result.

BEST SOUND DESIGN
Sound designing is a process that greatly influences the outcome of a production. Sound is the secret emotional messenger in a narrative that can impact on the success of a film. It embraces the elements of Dialogue, Sound Effects and Background Music. The balancing of these elements are an art form.

BEST COLOUR GRADING
Colour grading is where an editor or specialist colourist will manipulate the colours to match shots or stylise footage. When films are shot, it's extremely rare that all of the footage is filmed in exactly the same location, on the same day, at the same time of day, with the same lighting conditions, so the job of the editor/colourist is to ensure that the colour of the shots, given all these variables, remains consistent and then is embellished as the production design dictates.

A showreel (also known as a demo reel or sizzle reel) is a short piece of edited video or film footage showcasing a person's previous work.
