Raven Chacon is an interdisciplinary artist based in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is a member of the Navajo Nation. He composes chamber music, performs internationally as a noise musician and a singer-songwriter, and creates sound/visual art installations. The festival will involve 3 concerts: First, a portrait concert devoted to Raven’s chamber music, played by the Array Ensemble, featuring a newly commissioned work. The third concert will feature Raven’s electronic/amplified noise-music. In between, will be a selection of songs from Raven’s “For Zitkála-Šá”, a book consisting of 15 musical scores written for solo performer. Each composition is custom written and dedicated to an Indigenous woman/woman-of-colour who is currently working in the field of contemporary music. Performers confirmed for this concert include Suzanne Kite, Laura Ortman, Cheryl L’Hironidelle and Ange Loft.
