Randolph William Harvey aka Snatch McGruder, performing "Sympathy For The Devil" originally by The Rolling Stones at Hamlin Pub; circa Summer 2015.
Anyways, regarding this personal-best-ever rendition of "Sympathy for The Devil" that I ever had-done-did ever, as demonstrated in yonder video:
"...I remember the night, and "The Tennessee Waltz"/
But that song bears no relevance here/
For I rocked my
Best-set ever,
The night no one happened to be playing...the beautiful "Tennessee Waltz"...
Hmmm...In retrospect, I'm not even sure why I mentioned "The Tennessee Waltz." It has nothing to do with this video. Probably that thing, y'know, when you start a sentence with "I remember the night," and it becomes personally-compulsory, and irrationally-vital that you mention or tie-in "The Tennessee Waltz" in some way thereafter? I dunno.
Great song, though! But I digress.
Don't mean nothin'; drive on...
Anyways, here's the best cover of "Sympathy for The Devil" I ever had-done-did ever. And out of at least a thousand or so different renditions over my lifetime, too, because this song's always spoken to me on what feels like a deeply-personal level, as well as on many profoundly-fluid and versatile philosophical levels.
Just like its implied lyrical-narrator, it has served so many different purposes, in so many different forms in my life, that it almost always feels right to sing it, and its style and message appropriately seem to change every time I play it, as well. It was a special night, and my whole performance felt blessed and balanced, and sure-footed, by some divine-power--OR PERHAPS BY SOME UNSPEAKABLE, DEMONIC-SWAY--but either way, I was really proud of this one, and yea, verily, the other tunes I played that fateful-evening as well. But I'm still digging in my 5TB archive of music and live-recordings for those. Anyways, coming soon.
Okay then. Check it out.
...For your devilish-sympathies!
