Prelude: Inch'Allah was composed in 1967 the year I arrived in Montreal, being engaged immediately by an agent to sing in Piedmont, St Sauveur and other venues, I incorporated this song in my repertoire as it became an immediate hit.....

This video of 4'49" is about "Inch'Allah" a song composed and sung in French by Salvatore Adamo in 1967. The lyrics were written by Adamo as a peace song in the context of the Six-Day War between Israel and the Arab States. The song was banned in virtually all Arab countries for what they perceived as its pro-Israel sentiments and the mentioning of Jerusalem as a Jewish city after it fell under Israeli control during the war.

The song became a huge hit for Adamo in the French version, staying in the French Hit Parade for 8 months. It remains his best-known song, along with "Tombe la neige".

In 1993, Adamo recorded a new self-censored version of this song, where references to trembling children in Israel and especially the Shoah disappeared, replaced by a more neutral discourse.

Salvatore Adamo is a singer and composer, who is known for his romantic ballads. Adamo was born on November 1, 1943, in Comiso, Sicily, Italy, and has lived in Belgium since the age of three, which is why he has dual citizenship.

Since 2001 Adamo holds the Belgian noble title of Ridder, similar to the English title of "Knight".[1]

He first gained popularity throughout Europe and later in the Middle East, Latin America, Japan, and the United States. He has sold more than 80 million albums and 20 million singles making him one of the most commercially successful musicians in the world.[2] He mainly performs in French but has also sung in Italian, Dutch, English, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Turkish. "Tombe la neige", "La nuit", and "Inch'Allah" remain his best known songs. He is currently the best selling Belgian musician of all time.
