Probably the first full song I sequenced on the old Ensoniq SQ80 synth. This was recorded back in the mid-late 90's by just plugging the keyboard directly into my stereo and recording on cassette tape. Just some bits of piano stuff that I arranged into this piece. It sounded to me like it could be theme music for a tv show about paranormal stuff.

I did'n know what to call it, but wanted it to have something to do with paranormal. I had to name the sequenced file something on the keyboard, and their weren't even enough spaces to use the whole word "paranormal," so it became PARANO. It's not even a real word, but i liked it, so i stuck with it.

Recently, I put the original recording into my audio editor to hopefully improve the sound quality. The keyboard directly into my stereo was totally dry, no effects of any kind, just the raw synth sounds. So I EQ'd it, added some compression/limiting, added a subtle reverb to the whole thing... used a phase effect in a couple of spots... widened the stereo field a bit, and a few other tweaks and hopefully it sounds a bit better now.

Then, when I decided to make a video for it, knowing that just listening to it wouldn't be very entertaining to most people, I got a little creative with it. I used a bunch of images and video clips with a paranormal theme. Some of the images were from actual TV shows, so I decided to insert little bits of some of those themes into the song. No copyright infringement is intended, i'm not making any money from this or claiming rights to any of those themes or images. It's meant to be like a tribute to some of those shows, not a rip-off.

One of those themes being the theme from FRINGE. Coincidentally, that theme has a very similar chord progression to parts of PARANO, which I composed long before FRINGE was ever broadcast. I had to speed up the tempo quite a bit, but if you're familiar with it, you'll hear how it 'almost' fits. You'll also hear a bit of "Stranger Things" and "X-Files" and "Twilight Zone" mixed in.
