Guwahati, situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra could be considered as the gateway to northeast India. Within this city of temples, on top of Nilachal Hill is the abode of goddess Shakti, the Kamakhya Temple, an important seat of Tantric Hinduism and Vajrayana Buddhism. My team and I had the luxury of visiting the site during Durga Puja. These images above are from that time, and of this beautiful city I have grown to love so dearly. During Durga Puja, the rustic streets and sleepy alleys take a bright and colourful life full of new vigour. And with its ancient roots and vibrant culture, there is a sense of mystery that hangs in the air no matter where you turn. A sense that you are in the presence of the ‘Mystic Mother’ – Shakti.
