‘The Water’ was a response to a brief that required me to create a text that conveys a ‘lost love’ narrative. The landscape was used to convey visual representations of the characters emotional being, with a stone-centric landscape connoting loneliness juxtaposed against a vibrant nature-thriving place representing joy. Religious symbolism is reference to Fellini’s dream state in his film 8 ½ and the binary opposites of Good Vs Bad is a reflection of the moral influence of Christianity on western society. As an homage to Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane and Sorrentino’s ‘La Grande Bellessa’ I focused on lighting and the theme of Light vs Dark.
