"MODERN MAN" was written by Michael, Franne Golde and Bruce Roberts. It was the title track and the debut single from Michael's first album for SONY/Monument records. Due to a label shake up the album was never released in the U.S. However, the album was ultimately released by German label AGR/Universal. The album contained several songs that charted in the top ten on the German and European HotDisc Charts, including "Modern Man" and "No More Looking Over My Shoulder which went to #1. The success of the album in Europe led to a tour and a featured appearance on the German/American Country Music Awards TV show.
