Most of us still remember when there were insects buzzing around and flying in our mouths, riding our bikes on warm summer days. But those days are gone now.
Since 1990 the amount of insects decreased by 80%. Due to the use of legal and illegal pesticides in our greenhouses, on our farmland and in our gardens, pesticides are the leading cause for bees to die. Bees have a signalling function: they mirror their surroundings. When nature is in trouble, the bees are also in trouble.
From the 338 bee species found in the Netherlands, 188 are endangered and 35 are already gone.
What are we going to do when the bees are not there anymore to pollinate our food and bring life to our gardens?
1. How can we control the use of legal and illegal pesticides?
2. What if we would take a step back and let nature take its course?
