From Director of Music Andy Shelden:
"O Sons and Daughters" is a medieval Easter carol, adapted from an early 16th century plainsong.
Madeleine Shelden sings the carol (in English), accompanied by Andy Shelden with a medieval instrument called an "organistrum" or "hurdy-gurdy." The organistrum is a basic wooden box containing a single melody string and two drone strings, which run over a common bridge, and a hand-cranked wheel. The sound is wispy and somewhat buzzy (Madeleine described it as bees whispering).
