Medemer is a philosophy adopted by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Dr. Abiy Ahmed. Contextually, the term conveys the ideas of synergy, the principles found with inclusive practices and a collectivist approach.

Medemer summons our innate national and cultural identity of giving to others, adding to the value of our community, and contributing toward future generations.

The short film follows a fictional journey of a young girl who eventually grows up to realize her full potential. Capturing the current reverence in Ethiopia, reflected through women in high and prominent positions, the ideals of ‘Medemer’ unfolds in the story told of this young girl. The measure of any country’s progress is exhibited in how we collectively ‘add’ or ‘Medemer’ to the lives of all children in every facet of their being. Whether through elders sharing wisdom, community workers sharing best practices or mentors that shape the wonders of young minds from near and far. Investing in all children especially young girls by providing the necessary conditions for them to grasp their dreams by armoring them with quality education will pave the way for a better, brighter and a more prosperous Ethiopia for all.
