"Longing"

The second in my audio-reactive tableau series. Artwork by me, music by Alex Borg (Melody Loops). This time with a poem.

Reaching for the light
A bright place of shadows
Where the soul
is its true self
Where passion
and purpose
are fulfilled

Reaching,
but desire alone
does not make dance
Envy says “You want this!”
But does not offer skill
— the lithe motion,
the song in the heart
released to the limbs,
the word that comes
unbidden to the lips
to drop
with perfect
stillness
into
the listening silence.

Not all sparks make a flame
Not all dreams come to pass
Years of striving
a journey may have made
Yet still a reach
can exceed a grasp

And what remains?
An unrequited love,
an ache,
a sweet sad
sorrow
-- a painful solace,
reminder
that life
still quickens our veins.

Not enough,
Not enough,
it is
what we have
— longing.
