I decided to have another go at the continuity assignment given to me in DTC 208 at Washington State University Vancouver. I decided to use me going into the backyard to read a book. My original plan involved me starting from our front door, but I felt that it would have taken too long. With the final product being about 50 seconds, I'm glad I changed the original plan. I decided that the first half was going to be me traveling, so the continuity editing was going to mirror that. To do so, I mostly used empty frames to give the illusion of movement from one spot to another and either wide or medium shots. This gives the viewer a good idea of the movement to the backyard. With that done, I moved on to the second half of the filming. The second half is me sitting down and starting to read. I tried to match on action as I set up the chair and sat, and then varied more medium and close-up shots to contrast the beginning. As with the original instructions of the assignment, I kept the natural sound of the environment as opposed to adding in my own music. I did also add, however, a brief title card as we are beginning to require one for future projects.
