"Animatronic" is used as a simplified, all encompassing term for cable puppetry or robotic driven puppets. CGI is of course Computer Generated Imagery.
These shots were cross referenced with known behind the scenes information as well as a Film Scan Open Matte version of the film which makes it very clear which shot is CGI because of aspect ratio changes within the edit.
