K 75. výročí AMU dnes přeje profesor Hudební a taneční fakulty a houslový virtuos Ivan Štraus. Na HAMU vyučuje již od roku 1968; nastoupil zde poté, co ukončil svá studia na konzervatoři v Moskvě u slavné houslistky Galiny Barinové. Jeho pedagogické působení bylo následně v roce 1975 z politických důvodů přerušeno. Jako profesor zde začal opět působit v roce 1990. V letech 1968-1979 byl členem Českého tria, od roku 1979 primáriem Sukova kvarteta. Jako sólista vystupoval s různými orchestry doma i v zahraničí a je držitelem řady ocenění (např. vítěz soutěže Pražského jara 1964, cena Academy Charles Cross 1966, Mezinárodní soutěže Prix Musicale de Radio Brno, aj.). Vedle koncertní a pedagogické činnosti se společně s různými smyčcovými kvartety věnuje také interpretační a nahrávací činnosti – známé jsou jeho nahrávky skladeb Bohuslava Martinů.

Ivan Štraus, Professor of the Music and Dance Faculty and a violin virtuoso, is wishing AMU well on its 75th anniversary today. He has been a teacher at HAMU since 1968; his tenure started after he finished his studies at the Moscow Conservatory with famous violinist Galina Barinova. His teaching career was interrupted for political reasons in 1975. He started teaching at HAMU again in 1990. He was a member of the Czech Trio in 1968–1979 and the First Chair Violinist of the Suk Quartet from 1979. As a soloist, he has performed with various orchestras home and abroad and won many awards (including the Prague Spring 1964 Competition, the Academy Charles Cross Award 1966, the Prix Musicale de Radio Brno international competition, etc.). In addition to concert and teaching activities, he also performs and records with various string quartets – his recordings of Bohuslav Martinů’s pieces are well-known.
