VIDEO DESCRIPTION:

Proposal for screening of the film PLEATS / KIST. P/K will be shown on the left wall sampled here, with repeating footage of RED WAVES on the next wall (unsettling footage taken from P/K and looped).

Viewers enter the room facing RED WAVES. Black sand is built into mounds against the two corners of the left wall, on either side of P/K. Heavy bass speakers are in the bottom corners of the wall opposite. Viewers are invited to sit on black cushions facing P/K. There will be space to stand behind this, against the wall facing P/K.

Volcano Song, which plays as part of P/K can be felt by the viewers through their bodies: the deep bass of the piece causing a felt-vibration through the floor, echoing the volcanological and seismic sources of sound which make up Volcano Song. Over time, it is hoped that the vibrations will also cause the black sand to very slowly spread from the high mounds in the corners, a little further into the room. Approaching and encroaching on the place where the viewers sit.

The entrance to the space can either be through the wall facing the Red Waves or facing PLEATS/KIST.

Projectors will be ceiling-based, facing each film.

Accompanying text can be displayed close to the entrance into the room, so it can be read before entering the dark, cave-like, womb-like space.
