I have a tendency to fixate on the apocalypse. This short video piece entitled “In my dreams, animals have taken over the city” is borne from trying to reimagine the end of the world. I wanted to reflect on my ideas of apocalypse and the ways we try to escape the world through fantasy by playing with the augmented reality (AR) technology to play out these fantasies in real time. While Google’s AR tool is still a little unwieldy, it does its job of helping us physically reconfigure our spaces and has allowed me to create this brief, fantastic vision of Manila after the Anthropocene.
