Inspired by Violeta Parra’s poem “Gracias a la Vida,” this piece explores both exasperation at remote college and the acknowledgement of the “little gratitudes everywhere.” I discovered the raw, fierce Janis Joplin inside of myself. The piece reveals something I’ve developed during the pandemic: the ability to see both the good and the bad simultaneously.
