Play, download and edit the free video 言の葉の庭 (Garden of Words) Opening Title Remake.

For my video editing class, we were tasked to recreate an opening of a movie of our choice, incorporating all the VFX and video editing techniques that we have learned so far. I decided to recreate the opening of the anime movie 言の葉の庭 (Garden of Words) by Makoto Shinkai since most of his movies don't have opening scenes with titles and goes straight to the story. Most Japanese movies these days actually don't have opening scenes and prefer to credit their artist in the end. Going back, for this assessment, I pieced together some scenes from the movie and added a water drop effect that drops in sync with the piano background music. I actually manually timed each water droplet for this assessment. It was extremely tedious but it was also extremely satisfying when I finished the project.
