The video was produced for the Jewish Museum's Florine Stettheimer exhibition. Stettheimer was the Art Director of the Opera, Four Saints in Three Acts, with music by Virgil Thompson and a libretto by Gertrude Stein. Julien Levy filmed the production in 1934 with a rare all-black cast. The video was edited from the remaining film fragments now in MoMA's film archive.
