2020年6月下旬の梅雨シーズン曇り空の夜、
一匹のゲンジボタルが夕闇で光り始めました。
まもなくして時間と共にホタル達が一斉に葉の中から光りだし、次第に川辺に向けたカメラフレームからホタル達が飛び出していき、やがて高く舞うようになる頃にはいつしか曇りだった空が晴れていき、天の川が昇っていたので空にカメラを向けました。
ゆっくりと星空に舞う無数のホタルの姿は、一瞬ぼーっとしていると星との区別が分からなくなるくらいの幻想的な世界でした。
光るようになってからのホタルの命は約1週間といいます。残念ながらこの動画の中のホタル達はもう生きてはいません。
それを考えてたら一生懸命に光を放って命を繋いでいくその姿は余計に儚いです。

In June 2020, one day during the rainy season, one firefly began to glow in the dark on a cloudy night.
Soon after, the fireflies started to glow all at once from the leaves, and by the time the fireflies were protruding from the camera frame facing the river and gradually dancing higher, the cloudy sky cleared up and the Milky Way was rising. So I turned the camera to the starry sky.
The sight of the innumerable fireflies flying in the starry sky was such a fantasy world that I could not distinguish it from the stars.
Firefly's life has been about 1 week since it began to glow.
Unfortunately the fireflies in this video are no longer alive.
When I think about it, the appearance of growing lights and connecting life is very ephemeral.
