Emerging Voices: A Dialogue With Niemeyer
Top view architectural plan of Oscar Niemeyer's Dome in Tripoli, Lebanon; the experimental theater which was abandoned because of the Lebanese civil war. The plan was modified and the theater seats were transformed into radial music / architectural notations. This dome has a mysterious effect, a one special with Niemeyer, it echoes every single step / voice happening inside of it. The video illustrates the movements of bodies inside the dome echoing my recordings mixed with Mashrou'Leila's song (Ara Salma) which was recorded inside this dome. Overall, the movements resembles a rotating vinyl and (or) simply signify Niemeyer's original vision for this dome, an experimental theater for exciting performances.
