'Effulgent Wings' with music by Colm Mac Con Iomaire was performed at La MaMa in NYC and Co- presented by the Irish Arts Center on October 18th- 21st, 2019 in Wildflowers, A Feminine Genesis. On October 26th, 2019, this presentation toured to the O'Shaughnessy in St. Paul and was presented as a 'Women of Substance Event' .

‘Effulgent Wings’, with music by Colm Mac Con Iomaire, represents Fleming's choreographic research into the archetypal symbol of the 'Swan' shape-shifting into human form found throughout folklore, legends and Irish aisling (vision) poetry.

Inspired by Yeats' poem ‘Leda and the Swan’, the symbol of the Swan is also often depicted in animal to human transformations and has origins in the Irish Cailleach mythology. The flight of the swans heralds the end of the Irish winter as they fly to their breeding grounds at the change of seasons. A harbinger of spring, the transformation of the Irish Cailleach symbolizing winter, into Brighid (often associated with the swan), the goddess of spring, dates back 15,000 years. The swan is also an important symbol in Grail legends. The death of the swan instigates the renewal underlying the quest for the Grail.
