We watch the inner workings of a mind as it drifts through unconsciousness... relaxed happiness turning quickly into something dark.

Synopsis:
This experimental short film explores a mind that drifts through unconsciousness, and throughout we see different snapshots of memories and feelings that are often abstracted. “Dreamland” begins with a calm mood, with images of the bright sky and basking in the warmth of the sun. These memories contain wonderment and a feeling of peace, as the mind is relaxed in its sleep. However, soon, the mood changes. “Dreamland” becomes darker and more sinister, as memories stuffed to the back of the mind begin to push their way through to the front. These snapshots into this consciousness contain a sense of fear and uncertainty, but also display curiosity as the mind endeavours to escape the darkness, longing for the better life and for the happy calm memories of dancing in the sunlight. The smartphone film reveals these memories and explores this dichotomy of light and dark. This experimental film is inspired by the works of Anders Weberg as well as past Swinburne students.
