Deb Leal is a Multimedia Artist, Director & Photographer based in Oakland, CA whose work resounds with color and mystery while investigating concepts of human ritual. She received her BFA in Fine Art Photography from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in 2011, and began her filmmaking journey in 2017.
Her photographic work has been included in the De Young Art Museum of San Francisco, LULAC conferences, and notable publications like Vogue and Remezcla. She is currently in pre-production for her second narrative short film, and can be found hand embroidering denim jackets under her art brand, Handfast Hotel.
