I was just dreaming’

Sometimes I listen to Sirius XM 53 Chill station. Some sounds are very rhythmic and metal sounding. Some tracks can be electronica with heavy drum beats, and yet calming and spacey at the same time. You must wade through a bunch of not interested music and sounds to find one to catcher your attention. I am always looking for good edit soundtracks to accompany drone footage and Ironman films, or sometimes just for a photo promotion pieces.

Things come in waves and the set was over due, so last week I saw the set was on the horizon. I hear this tune in the car and the dude hits his first note, that was it, take a picture of that song (for memory purposes later). I think that’s the new music for the Cozumel edit.

Late last year on cold snowy nights I started to edit some drone footage that I had shot during Cozumel’s Ironman race last November 2020. The original music was very warm, slow, calm and relaxing, a great way to forget the cold winters of December. That song was also heard on Chill 53, but when I heard the first few beats of (“Lucid” by Paraleven feat. Nathan Ball,) I knew it was the drone music I was searching to find.

Got home, looked up the tune, got Final Cut going, refamiliarized myself with the footage and many hours later an edit. The weather was rainy and cold over Memorial Day weekend and the days leading up to the weekend. It was time to put a fresh perspective on this experience. I think the desire to get summer going, make this piece more punchy, driven, yet floaty…
I will do re edit my original edit direction and see what other visual effect I can out together. This study of the same footage edited to two different soundtracks and there impact on the viewer are substantially different. Stay tuned for Version two later this week. And for anyone who read this far, I have a BTS/ behind-the-scenes video/timelapse clip of the Chuck Norris photo shoot earlier this year. Cheers.
