The ‘Chinese Music Ensemble’ is a twelve-week breadth subject, offered each semester to undergraduate students from all faculties, introducing students to repertoire that includes traditional, folk, and contemporary Chinese music. This video captures a public concert held in May 2021, with Dr Wang Zheng-Ting, Director of the Ensemble and world-renowned Sheng musician, conducting current students in a performance of highlights from this semester’s repertoire. The concert took place the Multivocal exhibition space at the Old Quad Treasury gallery. In this video, the Ensemble is playing "The Story from my Hometown" 小城故事, composed by Weng Qingxi, arranged by Wang Zheng-Ting, with lyrics by Zhuang Nu.
