Charles Pond and the river leading to it is in Fryeburg Maine, just east of Conway NH. It offers a wide variety of micro-environments from winding lazy river, sparse savannah-like red maple swamp, grassy marsh and wide open pond.
This is a lovely place to paddle, but a bit tricky to figure out where the launch point is – there is no signage, but if you study satellite maps, you can probably figure it out (just east of the intersection of Harbor and Union Hill Roads).
