Conductor Jean-Philippe Dubor lead the choir “Les Siècles Romantiques” for an interpretation of Carl Off’s powerful and iconic piece during the prestigious French Festival des Nuits d’Uzès.
Carl Orff created the cantata Carmina Burana in 1937 and retranscribed it in 1956 to be interpreted by a choir, soloists, 2 pianos and percussion.
This opus’ popularity – it is one of the most interpreted worldwide – certainly has to do with its musicality relying on a rhythmic pulse and repetitions. Carl Orff made up a whole ‘primal theater’ departing from the Western tradition, taking inspiration from song of the Middle-Ages.
