"Альбом «Broken rooms» - это музыка, созданная сетью генераторов случайных чисел. В реальном времени и при минимальном участии человека.

Основой для эксперимента послужили полевые записи — звуковые ландшафты Москвы. Вечерняя пробка на бульварном кольце, станция метро перед закрытием, спортивная площадка во дворе школы, подземный переход, в котором играет начинающий виолончелист, и куранты, играющие на занесённой снегом Красной площади.

Работа рэндом-сети похожа на конвейер или оркестр, в котором каждый участник отвечает за крошечное действие. Один режет входящий поток звука на части случайной длины, от миллисекунд до минуты. Другой выстраивает их в ритмические последовательности. Третий хватает случайный кусок звука и пытается превратить его в мелодию. И так далее.

300 рэндом-генераторов работают одновременно и большую часть времени выдают малоинтересный шум, но иногда на сеть будто находит озарение, и она рождает звуковые узоры удивительной красоты и сложности. Роль человека — в том, чтобы попытаться ухватить этот момент, изолировать и сохранить в файл".

Генеративная музыка проникла в концептуальное видео "Поры" и подчинило его себе путем полной автоматической синхронизации.

“Broken rooms” is a music created by a network of random number generators. In real time and with minimal human involvement.

The experiment is based on field recordings — sound landscapes familiar to everyone who has been to Moscow. Evening traffic jam on the Boulevard ring, empty Metro station at night, a school playground during the summer evening, an underpass where aspiring cellist torturing the cello, the Chimes tolls above the snow-covered Red Square.

The work of the random network is similar to a conveyor and an orchestra, where each participant taking just a tiny little action. First one cuts the incoming sound stream to pieces of random length, from milliseconds to a minute. Second one builds those pieces into rhythmic sequences. The third grabs the sequence and tries to turn it into a melody. The fourth imposes a weird sound effect, like an echo with endless feedback. The fifth turning a little knob in this effect plugin

Thus, 300 random generators work contemporaneously creating 5 parallel tracks of sound. And most of the time they generate a boring insipid noise. But sometimes the network seems to catch some kind of inspiration and creates soundscapes of amazing beauty and complexity. The role of the musicians is to try to capture this moment and save it to a file.

Generative music penetrated the conceptual video "Pores" and subjugated it to itself through full automatic synchronization.
