Proposal plans have been released for a brand NEW area to Chessington World Of Adventures and also a NEW rollercoaster! This area is amazon themed and will include 2 flat rides, a rollercoaster, new landscaping and much more! No official statement has been released of what the rollercoaster will be, however it still is very exciting!

My Thoughts on what the new rollercoaster may be: Personally I think that the new rollercoaster maybe some sort of wing coaster such as The Swarm at Thorpe park on a much smaller scale with a launch. The other option is maybe a boomerang coaster of some sort such as Accelerator at Drayton Manor Park.

Potential flat rides to the area: Four flat rides have been proposed in the plan including a Frog Hopper Ride, a Flying Carpet type of ride, a Squid Surfer type of ride (seen at Legoland), and a air balloon ride. Only two of the proposed rides will be chosen and potentially installed into the area.

My thoughts on the flat rides that could be coming to the area: Personally I think that the Frog Hopper ride and the Squid Surfer ride would go really well in this amazon themed area alongside a rollercoaster.

What Will The Area Include?

A new Amazon themed Land is proposed that will include:

1. A new rollercoaster – guests will be propelled on a car through banks and turns before coming to a dead end on the track adjacent to a themed structure on the southern part of the site. The car will then be propelled along the same route back to the station located on the north east part of the site. A hard standing ride maintenance area is to be provided adjacent to the ride station.

2. Two children’s rides – the exact details of the proposed children’s rides are to be confirmed but they will comprise two low-level rides similar in character to Seastorm and Jungle Bus currently at the Resort.

3. New Landscaping - to enhance the surrounding environment.

The rollercoaster layout has been carefully designed to make the most of the change in levels on site, and minimise views, with higher coaster elements being located at lower levels of the site.

proposed layout ensures that the majority of the structure will be screened from external views by existing boundary trees and landscaping. Where there will be glimpses of the upper elements of track/theming they will be seen in the context of other existing rides and man-made features in the landscape.

As a leading global leisure business, Merlin strives to ensure each visitor attraction meets the highest standards of enjoyment and safety.

Chessington is a Theme Park and Zoo with a SEA LIFE centre, two-themed Hotels and a glamping site, plus has Go Ape, attracting visitors from the south-east of England and beyond. It is a major local employer, generating economic benefits for the Borough and wider area.

The emerging proposal for a new themed Amazon Land includes a new family rollercoaster – the first at Chessington for 17 years - and two new children’s rides. This investment is critical to the Resort’s recovery from the impacts to the business from the COVID-19 pandemic.
