Marina started her professional studies in dance in Oaxaca, Mexico, where she was born. She holds a Bachelor´s Degree in “Art Education with a specialty in Dance” from the Center for Arts Education Miguel Cabrera of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), as well as a major in “Dance Creation” from INBA’s Choreographic Research Center. Her training includes: Choreography, Limón Technique, Improvisation, Contact Improvisation, Topf, Release, Butoh, Videodance, Flying Low, among others. She is a collaborator on projects with national and international choreographers and companies such as Eterno Caracol, En Dos Partes, El Cuerpo Mutable, Tándem Dance Company, Proyecto Bará, Red Sky Company, Tribal Crackling Wind Company, Kaha:wi Dance Theatre. In 1998, she was awarded a Scholarship for Artistic Development by the FOESCA in Oaxaca, and later, in 2002 she won a prize for “Best Female Performance” in the "Alas para danzar un sueño". In 2011 she was invited by the Limón Dance Company to work in José Limón's “Missa Brevis” for the Mexico-New York tour. Currently, she teaches dance at INBA’s Choreographic Research Center and at the National College of Dance “Nellie y Gloria Campobello”, and continues collaborating with Eterno Caracol Dance Company.
