Jahra ‘Rager’ Wasasala is of Fijian/Euro origin based in Aotearoa (New Zealand) and is an award-winning cross-disciplinary artist and world-builder. Jahra utilises her training within performance activation, contemporary dance technique and poetry to investigate ancestral attunement, transformation and character work through her work.

Jahra’s solo and collaborative performance work has toured across Aotearoa, Australia, Hawai’i, New York, Berlin, Guahån and Canada. As an artist, Jahra regularly works with institutions such as the Auckland War Memorial Museum in Aotearoa, Banff Centre in Calgary, the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC., and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, for which she is in development for a solo performance in 2019.

Jahra is the 2016 recipient of the Prime Minister’s Pacific Youth Award for the Arts. In 2017, Jahra was asked to give a talk and solo performance at TEDxAuckland.
