„Die Vergessenen“ (the forgotten) is a journey to a fictional Armenia. Coming from an Armenian and Russian family, Mischa Tangian was born in Moscow and has not yet visited Armenia and hence imagined this piece as the Armenia he heard from stories and from the Armenian dance music he listened to. Its rhythm and melody is in a style of neo folklore, creating a fictional traditional dance which does not exist in Armenian music.
