Tales of a flutist. This is a two hours Radio interview with Atenteben Edem @ puopeli radio in the upper west region of Ghana. The main discussion was centered on talent development and mentorship of which some freestyles of the Atenteben was required. Atenteben Edem played some songs such as welcome home by Osibisa, some cultural songs, Typical Akan Dirges, and some hymns(dirges).
The atenteben is a bamboo flute from Ghana. It is played vertically, like the European recorder, and, like the recorder, can be played diatonically as well as chromatically. Although originally used as a traditional instrument, beginning in the 20th century it has also been used in contemporary and classical music.
