When I collected trash for this particular piece, I thought it would be a fun way to learn about kinetic energy, since I dont remember much about it from school, but I realised...the arguments and tiffs we have with humans also carry this energy of motion that can be vibrational, rotational, moving from one location to the other, transforming and changing its direction while in motion, etcetera. Anyway, whatever the argument may be, make sure you have popcorn! Please feel free to interpret this kinetic motion of arguments whichever way you please!
My grandpa used to recycle almost everything and it was so much fun seeing confectionary boxes transform into beautiful containers for me, he would make bags for me out his old worn out kurtas, crayon color shavings were re-used for craft, books were binded at home, boot polish cans were reused, small sharpeners would be repaired... Gum, hammer and nails were his best friends. He would hardly just throw but always repair and upcyle. As a child I would never understand where this culture stems from, how important it actually could be. In fact I was shy of re-using. Unconsciously he challenged my ideas of the 'new' and what is 'worthy' of using. As children we look, but as adults we see.
Now I see. India alone generates 26000 tonnes of plastic waste everyday and thats a big, big number. We throw so casually, no? Research says our trash is mostly plastic containers polythene bags, bottles. I do wish that my animations at least make you think once when you are about to throw and discard. Perhaps some sort of metamorphosis can occur in the item you consider as rubbish? Friends, I will be persistent!
Everything here you see is trash..bottles and bottle bottle caps, white broken plate, some defunct kitchen items, grandpa's old shiny buttons, used door latch etc. Music by Vess L.Osmon: The drakes awakening.
