This is reflection based on a series of neuro-biological research on cases of musical anhedonia, where individuals exhibited reduced behavioral pleasure ratings and no autonomic positive responses to pleasurable music, despite having normal sound perception capacities. Through translating / empathizing with these individuals through creating a medium that simulates their experience, we begin to question if music is just an array of frequencies, or language, or an overly generalized interpretation.
