'Anchor' is part of an ongoing experimental collection titled ‘Series of Self’.

She awakens when the focus is concentrated on her face and stares down at the viewer. Her eyes remain open as her whole body is once again revealed. She seems to be simultaneously relaxed (the positioning of the legs) and tense (the positioning of the arms and her poignant stare). She almost appears strung up, her limbs on display. We once again in this series ask ourselves to what extent we are more than the shape and sum of our parts (limbs) – and how it is those parts are put on and held on display.

The sound design is by local Toronto artist Waxman (CA) and pairs a soothing melody with what may well be a painful moment.

As a vector artist, the use of that medium confines one within mathematic equations and geometric primitives (points, lines, and shapes) and creates art that is clean and can be scaled infinitely, without any loss of quality or fidelity.
