This is a triple channel video work displayed in rectangle space with dark grey colour painted. The
video should be projected on the same parallel and congruent side and space should have the
camphor smell in it.
The last work “I really shouldn’t wonder how those people with stronger common sense lead
their lives” is chased for the apparent me, and this one is urged for finding the spiritual inside my
soul.
This is the messy world that I been through since I came back from Documenta 12 in Kassel,
Germany. You could clearly feel your own inner side is dying out from an art booming fact. My
existence could be seen as a precious thing in this loud place. I shouldn’t or can’t getting along with
myself in a good manner, because I feel being despoiled and self-emptiness. I set these kids in a
corny house and they played the role as a true me. Children try to find out the original me with a
flashlight. I try to discover what motivated me for creating art in all of sudden appear or disappear. For
the flashlight, it aims to discover the image of the vapid house that we are all familiar with in Taiwan,
and an endless journey to find the one who you used to know very well.
This is about having a private conversation with my own. I try to being honest to look at the
status of me and facing the process of creating artwork. I purposely to find a familiar but no longer
existed me.
Finding yourself is an unbounded journey because you will not be able to create the same stuff in a
different situation.
