Adirondack Wetlands: An estimated 14% of the land surface of the Adirondacks is wetland. This wetland area immediately bordering Barnum Brook is a peatland, hosting plants able to tolerate the nutrient-poor, water-saturated soil. Plants found here include Tamarack, Black Spruce, Roundleaf Sundew, and Rose Pogonia. Birds singing in the background include the Nashville Warbler, Blue-headed Vireo, Common Yellowthroat and Black-capped Chickadee.
