As we enter the Hebrew month of Elul, it is the official start to our High Holy Day season. The words of Psalm 27 are recited every evening during Elul, as we spiritually prepare for the New Year. This new version of Psalm 27 was written by congregants Gabriel Mann and Piper Rutman.

“My daughter Piper and I were eager to write something new for the High Holidays, so when Cantor Coyot suggested Achat Sha’alti, we were happy to be involved. This new melody and arrangement are Sephardic-leaning, and as you’ll hear, the tune is intended to be sung in a round. Hopefully this new version of Achat Sha'alti will stick around like Ahavat Olam has, and we’ll keep adding to the repertoire year after year!”
