A collaborative work between myself, Pietro Bardini, and the poet Hatice Cin. This work was commissioned by the Barbican centre and was performed as part of the community view for the exhibition Modern Couples, on 14th January 2019.
The work responds to the works of Mikhail Larionov and Natalia Goncharova, founders of Rayonism: a style of abstract art that developed in Russia in 1911. Although short-lived, Rayonism was a crucial step in the development of Russian abstract art. As Larionov said, it represented the true freeing of art from the former realistic conventions that had oppressed the artistic community.
