On September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria made landfall on the island of Puerto Rico and other Caribbean nations, all of which had been previously impacted by Hurricane Irma.

The damage done to Puerto Rico and the region in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria was devastating. Hurricane Maria, a Category 4 storm, crippled the island, leaving its citizens without electricity, communication or passable roads. Several municipalities were without power for almost a year before it was restored. Recovery from this disaster is a long-term journey.

An impactful/emotional/moving/poignant new public service announcement (PSA) campaign, by Somos Una Voz, a charitable services fund at the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity, highlights the critical need for aid in areas of Puerto Rico and hopes you can help them by airing the broadcast PSA appealing to Americans for continued support. Because - for every roof repaired, home rebuilt, power grid restored, illness treated, meal delivered and child supported – there are still communities across Puerto Rico that need our help.

Under the generous and compassionate leadership of Marc Anthony, the alliance Somos Una Voz was created to respond to the disaster, which caused much loss of life and billions of dollars of destruction. Somos Una Voz has partnered with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to aid in rebuilding the island as well as other affected regions.

To date, Somos Una Voz has granted funds to more than 25 organizations to provide Immediate humanitarian response, community rebuilding and support and long-term recovery projects. Most recently, Somos has provided aid directly to the communities of Morovis, Loiza and Fajardo, delivering children’s clothes and school supplies, water filters, medical equipment and generators to families with extreme medical needs. The grantmaking is ongoing and recovery, specifically in underserved communities such as those mentioned above, will take years.

Please place these :15 and :30 TV PSAs in rotation and air them as soon and as often as possible. By airing the PSAs, you will help Puerto Rico’s long-term journey to recover from this disaster and rebuild the Island to not just its pre-storm state, but to a more resilient future for Puerto Rico.
