Video Flow

Overall Vibe: I wanted this video to present the mixed bag of emotions the Matlocks felt about KOH. SInce it was their first time, the anxiety and excitement they felt was tangible and my goal was to translate these emotions into the video. 1st half
(Intro): I start the video with scenes from King of the Hammers to try to capture the uniqueness and immensity of the giant pop up town that is created for this race. I included some personality shots (ie the 'Abnormal' car and dog carrying beer) to set the 'fun' tone of the environment and race. Then the scenes switch to a more serious undertone with scenes from the Yokohama shoot, which is used to build up to the qualifying, which is an important aspect of this race. The section ends with campfire scenes to cap the day and show Wayne & Kristen in a very casual environment.

Song: Suspenseful rock to set the anxious/excitement tone

Wayne's Sound Bite: Wayne's sound bite perfectly describes the mixed bag of emotions they felt about this race. This race pushed the Matlocks outside of their comfort zone, and they did it so that they can grow as racers. 

Race: Although Wayne and Kristen were racing individually, they were both doing it for the first time and shared that aspect closely with each other. I purposefully switched from Kristen to Wayne's car every other scene to signify this. The scenes transition to end with the "Backdoor" section to show how much of a toll the cars take during this race, and this section ultimately ends with Kristen's crash. I paired the guitar bend with Kristen's spinning wheels in slomo during her crash to finish out the race section of the video. The end scenes with family and friends show that at the end of the day, we're all in this to have fun.

Sound Bite: Kristen goes into the rock crawling details and captured the general sense of difficulty of the race.
